CFD for Stress Analysis
CFD-Structural calculates the distributed fluid loads on a body.
For a given flow condition (speed, altitude, temperatures, direction, orientation, etc.), the CFD-Structural analysis will overlay the resulting pressure loads to the airframe, then create a Finite Element Mesh (FEM) on the structure, over which to apply those fluid loads.
This two-step CFD-Structural analysis allows iterative design of a body, such as…
* Overall airframe (length, diameter, thicknesses, etc.)
* Sizing of fins, canards, strakes, wings, nose cones, struts, etc.
